The clinic wing is a 1,400-square-foot addition to the original barn. It was the first priority in our 2024 annual report, the reason for the 2025 Clinic and Learning Lab campaign, and the biggest single thing this organization has ever built.
What is inside
- Two exam rooms with proper restraint equipment and lighting.
- Digital radiography. Images are available in minutes and shared with Mossy Creek Veterinary Hospital for second opinions.
- A surgical suite with anesthesia monitoring, so fracture repairs and wound debridement no longer wait for an off-site slot.
- A six-kennel isolation ward with its own ventilation, for animals with suspected distemper or parvovirus.
- A dedicated formula kitchen, which the baby-season crew tells us is the real headline.
Outside, four new pre-release enclosures bring the total to twelve. The learning lab next door gained a viewing window into the clinic corridor, so school groups can watch a treatment without being in the room.
Who paid for it
The campaign goal was $120,000. It closed in November 2025 at $131,400 from 412 donors and a $40,000 capital grant from the Pacific Northwest Wildlife Fund. Construction ran from January to June 2026 and came in at $118,900. The remaining $12,500 is reserved for equipment replacement, starting with a second anesthesia monitor.
We have been carrying animals to other people's X-ray machines for eleven years. Being able to say "we will know in ten minutes" to a worried caller is worth every dollar of this. Mara Chen, Executive Director
Come and see it
The clinic wing is on the Saturday public tour route from July 18. Tours run at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1 p.m. and are free, though we will not stop you leaving a donation in the box by the formula kitchen.
