Rescues happen because someone gives an hour, a dollar, or a lift. Here are the ways to help this autumn, in the order we need them most.

What a gift pays for

Become a Den Keeper

Den Keepers give monthly, from $15 a month. Since the program started in February 2025, 181 members have given us the one thing a rescue can never plan for: money we can count on in the months when nobody is thinking about raccoons.

  • $15 a month

    Covers a raccoon's formula and enclosure enrichment for a month. Quarterly Den Keeper letter with case updates.

  • $30 a month

    Everything above, plus an invitation to the two members-only release days each year.

  • $90 a month

    Funds one complete rescue a year. Named on the clinic wing donor board.

Things we go through fast. Drop them at the intake door any day between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m., or email hello@foggyvalleyrescue.org to arrange a larger delivery.

Always

Unscented laundry detergent, paper towels, nitrile gloves (M and L), heavy-duty trash bags, dish soap.

This season

Fleece blankets, hot-water bottles, exterior-grade plywood and 2x4 lumber for den boxes, straw bales.

Enrichment

Unsalted nuts in the shell, dog puzzle feeders, shallow plastic trays, untreated logs and branches.

Clinic

Small-animal digital scale, veterinary-grade heat pads, a second anesthesia monitor (ask us for the model).

Volunteer

384 people volunteer with us. Everyone starts with the Tier 1 weekend; most give one four-hour shift a week. The next training is October 10 and 11.

Transport driver

Collect crated animals from responders and bring them to campus. Evenings and weekends, your own vehicle, mileage reimbursed. Our biggest need through December.

Take hotline calls from 6 p.m. to midnight from home, using our dispatch board. Calm voice required, raccoon experience not.

Feeding, cleaning, and enrichment in the enclosures and clinic. Opens after 20 Tier 1 shifts.

Planting days, tube removal, and building den boxes. No training needed, just a Saturday. Great for groups.

    Guided evening walk through the newest corridor with Devon Hale and Jordan Lee. 6 p.m., 40 places, $25, proceeds to the Winter Den Fund.

    Build and install 60 insulated den boxes across the three corridors. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., campus. Free, families welcome, lunch provided.
